Onam celebrations and Kathakali attire

Jonny your character in Onam festival is changed. You are going to do Kathakali attire, are you willing to do. Yes sir, I like the attire and make-up very well. Onam in our company will be celebrated among Malayalees, in pompous and great way. Usually for this festival, we use to get Payasam and Kerala Chips. Kalari payatu, Mohini Aatam, their dance are unique and enjoyable. Their dress, colours and passion are impeccable show. This time they came with an idea of Onam Sadhya, with the multiple Kerala dishes. Which is ordered from KP Dass. Way about a couple of decades ago, my school headmistress call to her house at Onam festival and serve the food.

Her house will be decorated with pookolam, in middle of that pookolam there will be a kuthuvilakku (Spiritual lamp) will be lighted, her saree will be ivory colour with gold colour border. That day she will be entirely different.  While serving the food, she will teach us about dishes served, why these food items are famous in this occasion. She starts the discussion like, "When we are in Kerala.... we Keralites..." There will be around 10 dishes in that time. We end up with Onam ashamshakal (Onam wishes). She will be cloud nine when we wished on the festival.

I have no Idea about this Kathakali attire. Make-up artist came, we had our formal introduction. He asked me to have the face wash. He had an complete idea about Kathakali, he asked to close the eye, he started with sponge and rubbing the sponge on my face. Lips are to be closed, I am about 40 minutes like that, friends came, asking me "Did Jonny slept over", I shown my thumb finger up (Thumbs up). Some came and laughed at me in between. Make-up artist used, coconut oil and powders which prevent the skin from burns.

The face is covered with green paint, my forehead with auspicious nama (three lines of vishnu). The black kanmashi (kajal) used from my eyebrows and from my eyes. The red lipstick covered at lips and also to give extra line drawn from lips to cheek to give the final touch. He didn't given me a mirror initially, I am just walking for the make-up to be settled. There is a door which has small piece of glass where I noticed my face. I am afraid of myself, my friend came and consoled me. Atlast thadi (Beard) kept on my face., then the dress, make-up artist again came to help me in dressing that. Nearly one and half hour it took to complete my make-up and attire. Then I asked to wish everybody who came for Onam Sadhya, there are so many wonderful photographs took. Amrita Channel & Mathruboomi put this celebration in news.

I enjoyed the whole event, even I am near to those events standing along with the performers its a bliss.
